Chalk Talk: How to Strengthen Family Ties
Today’s hectic world, with financial woes that make it necessary for both parents to work makes it very difficult to plan quality family time. You may feel that it is an impossible task, sit together as a family and reflect on every activity that is taking up your time. Think about how many extracurricular activities your children are involved in and think about cutting back to one or two activities. Look at your schedule. Are you overloaded, agreeing to do too many things? Find a way to do away with some of these activities that are not really necessary. Start by designating one night as a family fun night. Make it a requirement that every family member keep this night free from any other plans. Play games and laugh together. Listen to your children, because this is the time that they will be most likely to open up, not even realizing that they are actually talking to mom or dad. No matter what your situation or what kind of family you have, you need this bonding time. Be consistent and stick to the rules. You will be amazed at the changes you will begin to see in your family. Show your kids you care about what they think. Start today.
