Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Georgetown District Curriculum

Mathematics is given utmost priority in school, teaching children from a young age in order to establish core fundamentals and
understanding of numbers and how to manipulate them. Students understand how to solve problems and examine problems critically,
and chose the best way to reach the correct answer. Topics such as algebra, geometry, functions, and basic arithmetic are systematically
and gradually introduced to students in order to establish fundamental understanding.

English Language Arts is also a core and top priority subject which takes a great importance in the curriculum. Students are taught
English Language Arts with internalizing the concepts of reading and writing. Children are educated to enjoy literary works, and find
a topic in which they are interested in in order to expand their abilities in reading, writing, and grammar. Teachers are free to use
recommended literature and their own literature of choice, in order to give students a comprehensive approach to understanding the
English language.
