Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Georgetown District Curriculum

In Georgetown, the mathematics curriculum is followed that the Kentucky Department of Education prescribes. Core curriculum in Mathematics involves a checklist of skills for what to teach in each grade level. Students develop skills like measurement that generate a spatial and geometric ability. Quantitative data analysis is also important in the curriculum and students are able to learn a number of ways to solve quantitative problems.

There is a new technology use plan in place in Georgetown that has emphasis on curriculum integration. The goals include supporting instruction with technology. Technology is to be used across the curriculum so that teachers use it as an instructional tool, students use it to create work and conduct research, and as an area that students can explore in technology courses.

Chalk Talk: Tips for Being Successful in Your Goals

When trying to be successful, first decide what you consider to be success. Set your goals for success and make them reasonable. For instance, a goal could be to be a better runner. That you can achieve. But if your goal is to win a race you may set yourself up for failure. Do your best and let the winning take care of itself. After setting your goals, go for it. Do everything you can do to make your goal come true. The process is often as valuable as the outcome, so enjoy the journey.
