All students in the Gettysburg Area School District receive teaching according to requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This begins with a solid foundation in Core topics. Reading, Writing, Math and Science. Social studies is also a focus as well as technology and library education. Students learn these Core topics and are then able to take PSSA y Keystone exams which show whether they are learning at a proficient level or not. Armed it this knowledge, teachers are able to teach their students more effectively.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Exercise for Your Child
Schools require recess, health classes and/or Physical Education classes for their students. But what many people don’t consider is the importance of exercise as a lifestyle at home for your student. Exercise can take many forms, including dancing, sports, walking, gymnastics, or even some types of indoor games. The benefits of exercise are quite marked. Exercise causes your body to release endorphins which makes you more awake and happier. It also can curb the munchies which we often get when we are bored, but not truly hungry. Exercise helps with good blood circulation and energy levels. It may seem a bit counter-intuitive that using up energy produces more, but so it is. And this energy can transfer to the classroom. The good blood circulation and alertness can transfer to classroom performance as well. These are only a few positive consequences of regular exercise.
