Chalk Talk: Visiting Museums

Grove City offers many interesting museums that allow people of all ages to capture a glimpse of historical and Renaissance sculptures and paintings which draw one's attention. What is the big deal with art? Everyone looks at paintings and sculptures differently. What may appear beautiful to one person may seem actually odd and eccentric to another. But the point is that paintings can take us back in time to rekindle fond memories of nostalgia in our early days. Paintings can remind us of soft hues that can be seen in a rainbow or in a beautiful sunset as part of nature. Museums keep timeless works of art of old automobiles, priceless heirlooms, tapestries, and precious works of art that today would cost a fortune and can never be replaced. Art reminds us of someone's unique artistic vision that has been integrated as a medium of self-expression to convey a message. We often don't get the message but trying to decipher the motive, the texture, the meaning behind the shapes, the fine lines of sculpture or the colors is like trying to solve a puzzle that is not solvable.
