Guadalupe District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The districts follow Common Core Standards in Math and Language Arts and similarly structured standards-based curricular frameworks for other core subjects. Arizona has also developed a college and career readiness curriculum for K-12. The reasoning for this curriculum comes about because the future workforce of America will have the need to choose employees with a deep and vast skill set. When students leave high school, they must have excellent skills in the areas of communication and collaboration.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Guadalupe District Curriculum
Students are expected to be adaptable to different situations and flexible enough to be successful in the world of careers. These abilities are critical if students are to effectively compete in the global world of the future. With these things in mind, curriculum experts design curriculum with a mind towards setting high expectations for students so that they can achieve the educational goals that educators set for them. The standards build upon previously taught content so that students can achieve a high degree of subject-area mastery.
In an effort to further ensure student success, the Arizona Department of Education is designing an 8 week program (Pandemic Curriculum) for students to use during long periods of time that schools are closed, for instance, during summer break. This curriculum targets Language Arts and Math, with some integration of Science and Social Studies. This program will target concepts that many students have difficulty in grasping.

Chalk Talk: How Can I Use Family Trips to Teach My Child?
Taking trips to museums and attractions like Sea Life Arizona are great trips, but how can you help your child at home to incorporate what s/he has seen on your family trip? Here are a few ideas of activities to do at home after your trip. Take a camera with you and take a lot of pictures. Print off some of your favorite pictures and provide your child with glue, poster board, scissors and markers. Have your child make a collage with the pictures and write something that s/he remembers about each picture. You can use this activity for any learning activity. Enjoy it with your child and make your own poster. Make sure you display your work in a prominent place to show how important their work is to you. Have fun learning and creating together.
