Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Half Moon Bay District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum details essentials for understanding the language, for developing a writing process and for writing for different reasons, and for the comprehension, analysis and interpretation of literary and informational texts. The Math framework lays out the foundations for learning numerical operations, algebra, geometry and measurement, data analysis and calculus. In the Sciences, students develop an understanding of processes and principles inherent to environmental science, biology, physics, chemistry and technology.

Each of these areas helps students to develop essential thinking skills like analytic and evaluative thinking or problem-solving and process-oriented thinking. These higher-order thinking skills support learning in complex subjects and real-life situations.
