Hanover District and Curriculum

The schools in Hanover, PA provide quality education for their students as assessed through state testing criteria. These tests are designed to evaluate students’ proficiency level in Core classes. Subjects such as Math and English carefully prepare students not only to be able to effectively achieve proficiency in these exams, but also prepare them for whatever studying or job may come after graduation. Likewise, other core subjects have a rigorous framework that provides the skills and knowledge which will prepare students for college academics or future career goals.

We currently cover the following Hanover-area school districts: Hanover Public School District and South Western School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Hanover District Curriculum

Hanover Public School District offers many programs to assist students in achieving all that they can. Among these are accelerated courses in science, English and math which allow students to have a more rigorous learning experience than they would otherwise receive. HPSD also participates in an Academic Community Exposure program which allows seniors planning to go to college the opportunity to job shadow in companies where their interests lie. These and many other programs assist students in achieving their post-secondary goals.

South Western School District also focuses on equipping students for the rigors of life after high school graduation. Providing core academic courses according to Common Core and statewide standards, as well as other electives, students are offered the opportunity to be exposed to many different disciplines and career/job choices over the course of their time in the South Western School District.

Chalk Talk: Pursuing a College Education

For many students, it goes without saying that they will study after high school, but some students are not so sure. How can you make the wisest decision in your situation? First of all, consider your goals, bearing in mind that those goals can change over time. Keeping your options open is usually a good idea. Maybe your goal is to be able to support yourself. How will you do that? Perhaps school was not the easiest thing for you, but bear in mind that different careers generally have different pay-scales. For this reason, look into things you would be interested in. And rather than typing into Google, “careers that do not require an education,” think of your dream job (pretending that the education took no work on your part). What would it be? Once you’ve decided on something, look for ways to get around any obstacles you may have. For example, some students love online learning as opposed to a classroom. Others prefer night or evening classes. There are some schools that focus on different learning styles, so look into those options as well. If your dream job truly does not require an education, find out what it does require.
