Chalk Talk: Supporting Local Schools
If your students attend public schools, you have a vested interest in making sure that they are the best they can be. In some cases, this may mean working for facility improvements such as building or remodeling. In other cases, it may mean working to improve the academic standing of a school by helping with tutoring or reading programs and encouraging teachers who excel in the classroom. Another way to support local districts is by encouraging school community partnerships - they could be with arts organizations, local non-profits, or areas businesses that offer internships or job shadowing. Above all, you can make sure that your own student is prepared for the challenges of education and are able to excel regardless of the circumstances.
