Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Hempstead District Curriculum
The basic curriculum emphasizes English Language Arts and Math and expands into other state approved subject areas such as science and technology, career development, non-English languages, and the arts. ELA students will read, listen, and write to develop an understanding of communicating information as well as expressing themselves and forming opinions. Math students will understand mathematical concepts using analysis, inquiry, and design to access, generate, process and transfer various skills.
In Science and Technology, students learn to integrate mathematical analysis, scientific inquiry and design in order to solve problems. They are guided toward understanding basic concepts of mathematics, science and technology. They are also guided towards the integration of all basic skills related to science and technology. Students will understand scientific and technological concepts and apply these by using their skills to understand and evaluate their world.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: Applying to College
Applying for college, university, or other secondary education should begin before a student’s senior begins. Grades play a major role as well as extra-curricular activities such as sports, clubs, volunteering, and hobbies. These components of a student’s education should begin early (if not day one) in their education path. Financing education is extremely important. One important step is researching and applying early for grants and scholarships. Many scholarships require work from the student to prove to the group providing the funds that the student is truly interested in furthering their future.
