Chalk Talk: Important Assets for Child Development

In order to develop into contributing and successful adults, children need an abundance of support and direction from their families, teachers and other important adults in their lives. In fact, having the support, love and care of family members is the number one building block of healthy child development. Positive communication between family members is also an important aspect of child development, as children who feel safe talking to family members about important issues are more likely to develop healthy living habits. The importance of positive relationships with adults extends into the school community as well. Students who have a positive connection with their teachers are more likely to exhibit positive classroom behaviors and perform better on assessments.
