Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Horsham District Curriculum
Middle school students study all these things and then some. All students must take German, French, or Spanish language courses. Students are required to take each language for one year each throughout the course of their middle school curriculum. In these courses, they learn basic language and conversation skills, about the cultures and places where the language is spoken, typical holidays celebrated, and come to understand cultural differences and similarities.
High school students build on all they have learned in the previous eight years. Once in high school, they are given more options, but continue to focus on core academic subjects on which they are evaluated according to state standards. Students also receive opportunities to be involved in more specialized topics, clubs, and groups so that they can hone in on their specific academic or career interests after high school, being prepared for their next steps in their post-secondary life.

Chalk Talk: Advantages of Hybrid Classrooms
The new, up-and-coming Hybrid classroom models makes good use of modern technology allowing students to engage with material and learn at their own pace by doing. But how does it work, and is it effective? Many teachers think so. This technology allows teachers to teach small groups of students material at the specific level they are ready for. Then students can practice and use what they learned using software which re-creates problems if a student needs to keep practicing. Teachers can use the software to see what student is at what level and to ensure that the students are actually studying as they say they are. The software allows teachers to make learning more independent and “self directed” without losing the accountability and supports a classroom offers. In courses where students need to have a strong grasp on the procedural skills associated with this subject, the hybrid classroom can be very effective. At the point where the student needs to develop more critical discernment, having interpersonal interactions is more effective.
