The Monmouth County Vocational School District focuses on student preparedness for the ever-evolving and highly technological 21st Century workplace. Chalk Talk: The Importance of Inclusivity

Inclusivity in schools is nothing new. The movement to integrate special education populations into general classrooms gained traction in the mid-1980s. But today’s inclusive classroom is more integrative than ever before. Students having special needs spend the majority of their day in general education classrooms, often with the assistance of a paraeducator. But more and more often, kids with special needs are finding help from general education students. General education students help their special education peers with class assignments, projects and presentations. This not only benefits the social, emotional and cognitive development of student with special needs, it also helps general education students to develop a better understanding of students who have learning or behavioral disabilities. What results is an environment of shared acceptance and understanding.
