Chalk Talk: Feed the Hand that Feeds You

Every day, teachers all over the country go to work with a plan and a hope to reach the students they will encounter throughout the day with the wonders and benefits of education. These teachers most likely have spent time trying to put together a lesson that will be engaging, memorable and informative. After all the preparation teacher do before class, all they ask for, in most cases, is that the students give the lesson a chance and try to learn something. Sadly, many teachers meet with student rejection and apathy on a daily basis. This can be discouraging and drive a good, motivated teacher to be apathetic and unmotivated themselves. To relieve this education-killing reaction, it might be beneficial to give your teachers some encouragement or at minimum a “thank you”. A simple kind word can give a teacher the emotional and mental sustenance they need to carry on the work of feeding your mind.
