Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Imperial District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum explains the literacy skills that support reading comprehension, analysis and interpretation. Writing is also a critical part of this curriculum and attention is given to teaching students to write in persuasive, narrative, and expository forms.  In Math, students are introduced to topics in number operations, geometry, measurement, data analysis and algebraic operations and develop a range of skills to support increasingly complex problem-solving.

The Science curriculum expounds on the principles of scientific inquiry, research and laboratory skills, and universal knowledge that has been developed in different fields of science. All core subjects help students develop foundational thinking skills like analytic, evaluative, logical reasoning and problem-solving. As students develop more specific interests, these skills will prepare them for advanced study in their chosen field.

Imperial District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs

The schools in Imperial use a framework for subject-area learning that describes the expectations for what students will learn and be able to do each year.  These learning objectives represent the skills that students need to master within each subject and which they will use in future learning.

We currently cover the following Imperial-area school district: Imperial Unified School District.
