Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Indianapolis District Curriculum

Science Bound is a five-year program in which IPS has collaborated with Purdue University to identify middle school students in grade eight with interest and capability to pursue post-secondary education in science, mathematics and engineering. Students who complete the program are eligible for full scholarships at Purdue University.

IPS facilitates children in development of an international education. The International Baccalaureate is the right program for self-motivated, inquisitive children who love reading and writing stories, engage in discussions and study local and world issues with great interest. IB provides children the opportunity to develop international perspective, learn a second language and engage in social action projects. Parents have the opportunity to participate in class activities, receive narrative report cards and participate in conference evaluations.

Chalk Talk: How to Choose a Tutor

A tutor can help your child in improving his academic performance, confidence and maintain focus, however, it is possible only if you can find the right person according to your child's temperament and study style. For the tutor to be the right fit, he or she must be amicable and have the right credentials to teach the subject. Online tutoring is a good option for people who need a flexible learning schedule for their child. Tutors can reinforce whatever the children have done in school and can also teach students how to become independent workers. Research shows that students usually become more confident subsequent to having worked with a tutor.
