Full of opportunities, the students can choose from supplementary courses such as: Advanced Placement English courses, Honor’s Writing, a full line of mathematics electives, such as statistics, pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, Advanced Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Algebraic Connections, Advanced Placement courses in history and geography, college preparatory economics, government, macroeconomics, and college preparatory historical foundations. Other electives include: fine arts, exceptional education, foreign languages, ROTC, Driver’s Education, and career readiness in technology and health sciences.

- Moodle - Moodle is an internal website for Jefferson County Schools. Moodle contains many of the course offerings for the school system, with online course content delivery, and content posted for those who need to access it from home. Students can access the activity modules, such as wikis, databases, and much more.
- Getting to Know the Nook - Kindergarteners and first graders at Corner School greeted and entertained various visitors with their new Nooks. The Nook Launch was an event at the school where receiving their new Nooks to help facilitate their learning was celebrated. The event was held at the Shades Valley School media center. This is just another way Jefferson County Schools incorporates technology into learning!
- Center Point High School Adds Books to the Library - Center Point High School is adding books to the library. Non-fiction as well as fiction novels are being added and the librarian is welcoming anyone from the community to come and view the new selection. DVD's have also been added for the teacher's instructional use.

The Alabama Mathematics, Science, and Technology Initiative has an objective to greatly increase the students' math and science attainment of knowledge in the schools of the state of Alabama. This initiative helps teachers by providing funding to be able to purchase the highest quality teaching materials for use in their classrooms. The AMSTI will help students develop the skills required for success.
