Dedicated staff members and teachers provide support for children to explore personal, academic, and career-oriented areas of interest as well.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Irving District Curriculum
The writing curriculum begin with students learning how to form each of the letters of the alphabet. Then they learn to connect these letters to create a variety of words, including their names. Soon they learn the proper way to combine these words together to create complete thoughts. When they reach high school these students take all of the skills and processes they learned and refine them.
Irving Schools share the world of science of students by showing students that science is all around them. At a young age, students learn about the cycle of the seasons and the life cycle of a plant. Some of the classes allow students to begin experimenting and observing by encouraging students to plant their own seeds, either in the classroom or at home. As they enter high school, their eyes are opened to the co-habitation of plants and humans, and how what affects one affects the other. They also learn about ecology, including recycling, and biomes.

Chalk Talk: Fourth-Grade Project Survival Guide
Fourth grade is generally the time when students are presented with their first independent project. These projects generally take weeks of research, from a few sources. The trick to making it through this assignment is to encourage the student to begin early. If they make a plan, they will have goals to work toward. This also breaks down the assignment into less intimidating portions. To do this they will need the assistance of a parent. Parents can also help students, but not complete the assignment. Help the children to see that it is beneficial to complete the more difficult sections of the assignment first. With guidance from parents, students should be able to complete the assignment and will be able to face future projects with more ease.
