Jackson District and Curriculum
The Jackson community has set high academic standards for its pre-school through 12th grade students. Students are excelling on the ACT test, standardized state tests, athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities; the educational community is standards-driven and student-centered. There are given objectives to meet in every grade level in English/Communication Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Music, Art, and Physical Education.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Jackson District Curriculum
The standards are fundamentally integrated between the grade levels, enabling an unusually comprehensive education. They are clearly and appropriately communicated to students and parents and the daily lesson plans of teachers align to the goals within the curriculum. Further, the goals are progressive and build skill-sets and concept knowledge each year in a way that draws upon prior knowledge and reflective thinking to build analytic and logical thinking skills.
The early grades emphasize basic reading, writing, and math skills along with science and social studies objectives. A rigorous foundation in the beginning breeds success at the secondary level. Mediating the curricula are strict attendance, homework, and behavior standards with “positive” consequences for exceeding a given number of absences, failure to complete homework, or doing so in a below-standards fashion.

- Three Jackson Schools Earn National Acclaim - Three local district schools were selected for a national registry for academic performance called “The Schools of Promise.” Parents, students, and officials at all levels are very proud of this excellent academic achievement.
- Parents as Teachers Program - In an effort to link the earliest learners and their families into the school community, the district has developed a Parents as Teachers Program. This is a volunteer organization run by local parents who visit the homes of families with children younger than school age to help foster the best learning environment to prepare children for school.
- ALERT Program - The ALERT Program is the districtwide gifted and talented program that students may choose to apply into. Students receive enhanced instruction in core areas, additional learning opportunities, and the chance to collaborate with other gifted students on creative, academic challenges.

SchoolTutoring Academy works with young learners and students, all the way up through high school. We offer Pre-K and Kindergarten Tutoring as well as Elementary School Tutoring to build a strong learning foundation early on. We also offer comprehensive tutoring across all school subjects.
Chalk Talk: A+ Schools Program
The Missouri legislature has funded a unique post-high school program funded at JacksonR2Schools. Graduating students with a 95% attendance rate in grades 9-12, a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or above, and unpaid tutoring can receive scholarships to attend Missouri Community Colleges or local trade and technical schools. Many programs are in place to excite students about this program and to assist them in obtaining the scholarships. This is a Missouri-only special award for students who might otherwise not be able to finance the cost of post-secondary education and training.
