Jamestown District and Curriculum
The Jamestown Public School District aims to “inspire and empower all students to develop to their full potential through a unified effort of students, parents, teachers, staff, administration, and citizens in a secure, respectful and enjoyable learning environment.” The District School Improvement Council (DSIC) consistently meets with parents, teachers, and community leaders to access schools in the area and present both accomplishments and goals. Students are evaluated at least twice annually by participation in Northwest Evaluation Association’s Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Jamestown District Curriculum
The Jamestown Public School District’s Mathematics curriculum is focused on a core set of standards for achieving academic excellence.
Initial instruction teaches students to use mathematics in problem solving situations and for diverse quantitative measurements. Students
are taught to use mathematics as a tool for developing sound reasoning and critical thinking skills. The overall mathematics curriculum
will enhance students’ abilities to work precisely and strategically.
The Science curriculum reinforces the basic principles of life, earth and space, and physical science through in-class demonstrations and
hands-on activities. Students are encouraged to learn through their ability to ask specific and pertinent questions. The curriculum focuses
on all aspects of the research process by demonstrating proper documentation techniques, credible source utilization, and application of
basic principles.

Keeping Informed: Recent Jamestown Educational News
- New Leadership - The School Board unanimously approved Gail Wold as the new principal of Jamestown Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year. Wold brings with her 20 years of experience as an educator and school leader.
- Technology in the Classroom - All Jamestown High School English Department classrooms will receive laptop computers to enhance student learning. Every student will have the ability to use a personal computer during class, and teachers will be able to innovate lesson plans and will be able to adjust their educational plans to take advantage of the new technology.
- Special Education Cooperative - The Special Education Cooperative was established as a partnership between many districts to serve the needs of students requiring special educational services. The cooperative encompasses a wide group of educational options for students and also provides many opportunities for community members to work with exceptional children.
