The state of Louisiana adopted the Common Core State Standards in 2010 and the Jefferson Parish Public School District expects to have the curriculum fully implemented by 2014. In Mathematics, students are taught core computational skills, algebra, geometry, statistics, measurement and proportional reasoning. Students build on their math skills year by year as the coursework increases in difficulty. The focusing on a finite number of math subjects allow students to gain a high level of competency in core subjects.

In English and Language Arts, students follow a progressively complex program to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students are expected to become literate in expository, narrative and creative writing. In an effort to prepare students for the workforce they are provided with informational text and literature in reading materials. The development of interpretative and critical analysis skills, and academic research skills are included in the curriculum.
