Chalk Talk: Keys to a Successful Alternative School Setting

Everyone is different and therefore everyone has a different style of learning. Most school districts have developed programs for those students who are not succeeding in a traditional educational setting, those students with a different style of learning. However, studies have shown that those alternative programs with a particular formula have been the ones to experience more success. The program starts with a small student body, creating a specific program for each child, with clear instructions, a discipline code for every child to understand and follow, a supportive staff who gives positive reinforcement, high expectations for learning, and lastly and family and community support and involvement. All of these factors have been the formula for a successful alternative school environment.
