Kingsville District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Kingsville schools have created a challenging curriculum based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. This curriculum helps to empower students to achieve excellence. The curriculum designates a series of learning standards for each subject that help students develop a full range of content knowledge, procedural ability, and critical thinking skills. Students are also prepared for college and career goals, coached to think about different career options, and provided with many electives and extracurriculars by which to explore their interests.
We currently cover the following Kingsville-area school district: Kingsville Independent School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kingsville District Curriculum
The Science curriculum begins by introducing students to topic on a broad basis, such as looking at the season, or an overview of a plant’s life cycle. It then proceeds to narrow scopes by showing students systems in a living thing or by showing students different types of rocks. In high school these topics are narrowed even more by allowing students to examine cells genetics or atomic structure and learn how to write lab reports describing the phenomenon they see.
The Mathematics curriculum at Kingsville Schools begins with students learning the basic skills such as addition and subtraction. Through the next years they learn to add to these skills by learning multiplication, division plus basic algebra. In high school students take classes in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus where they learn to take the earlier skills and add algebraic equations, and quadratic equations. With the skills developed, students are able to reach one of the goals of the curriculum and understand how to solve any math problem.

Chalk Talk: Selecting a College
Teens and parents can become overwhelmed with the choices of colleges. To help with this a list of objectives needs to be created. This list needs to help keep the course of study open. Some of the ideas for the list include the location and type of school, the environment, housing, courses offered and cost and financial aid along with others. Looking through course catalogs can help students get a sense of what academic opportunities will be available to them. Also, many colleges offer virtual tours on their website which is a good place to begin to search. Guidance counselors can help create this list and then can help to see what choices fit. Next, look at college catalogs, talk with college representatives, visit the campuses, and talk with friends, counselors and friends before filling out the applications.
