Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kirby District Curriculum
The mathematics curriculum at Judson Independent School District provides a foundation of mathematical skills in the early grades which are built upon by the time they graduate. The math facts that are a part of every child’s school life, becomes a building block when they continue to take algebra, geometry, statistics and probability, trigonometry, or calculus. Each of these topics are taught through many methods including the use of computational tools, applications and modeling. This shows students how to use math throughout their lives when faced with problems.
The English curriculum at Judson Independent School District helps students develop skills in speaking, writing, reading and listening. Students learn how to discern the intent of an author in both literary and informational texts, and in conjunction with that skill, learn how to develop their own intent in written work. They learn how to write for different purposes and with an eye to proper mechanics and vocabulary usage. Students also learn how to conduct academic research, prepare footnotes and bibliographies, and properly incorporate other's work in their writing.
