Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kirkwood District Curriculum
A primary focus of the Common Core State Standards is mathematics. Students gain a thorough understanding of mathematics and learn how to use math in real-life situations. Much of mathematics instruction involves reasoning, abstracting, and identifying patterns in the world around us. Science instruction continues with the Next Generation Science Standards. These challenging standards lead students to integrate technology and science to learn how the world around them works, and how to find answers to questions that pose real problems for society.
The Language Arts curriculum brings together the areas involved with literacy and communication, emphasizing language development, use of proper grammar, and the ability to decode the meaning of new vocabulary. Critical reading comprehension and analysis skills, the ability to evaluate information, and being able to locate and synthesize information into a students own work are all goals of the Language Arts curriculum.
SchoolTutoring Academy’s tutoring programs for Kirkwood students start with a free academic assessment with an Academic Director. Our flagship tutoring programs are available for $199.99/month which include regular one-on-one tutoring, academic mentorship, bi-monthly progress reports, learning profiles, and parental conference calls.
Kirkwood District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Kirkwood School District continues to view curriculum as a priority. As the state standards are replaced by Common Core State Standards, the goal of the Kirkwood School District remains the same – students will get the best education possible. A main focus of the Common Core State Standards is reading informational text within the content areas, which is very different from reading literature. All teachers in all subject areas are involved in this process of curricular planning.
We currently cover the following Kirkwood-area school district: Kirkwood R-VII School District.
