Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Kirtland District Curriculum
The financial literacy curriculum in Kirtland helps students develop an understanding of what it means to make sound financial decisions. Students learn about the relationship between consumerism and the health and growth of the state and nation’s economies. Learners explore the ways in which they can spend money wisely, and also learn about investments and purchases that offer little or no return. Income is explored, particularly with regard to one’s career choice. Students learn about how career choice impacts one’s earing potential, and identify the factors that impact one’s ability to get a good job.
Music students in Kirtland acquire a variety of knowledge and skills that allow them to become vocal or instrumental performers. In high school, music students focus on honing their craft. Students explore solo, ensemble, and large group performances in which mastery of the music is on full display. Learners demonstrate an ability to prepare and deliver a wide repertoire of music that demonstrates an increasingly high level of complexity. High school students perfect their ability to sight-read music, and exhibit an ability to improvise their performance.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: Why Technology Is Necessary in the Classroom
In today’s highly technological world, it is essential for teachers to adopt the latest technologies to drive and deliver their curriculum. Students today are plugged in, and teachers can use that to their advantage. Exploring topics using the Internet, apps, and other technological tools helps make learning interesting, engaging, and fun. This kind of active participation helps students retain the information they learn and increases their ability to apply that learning to everyday life. Another benefit of technology is that it expands the time and space in which children learn. Rather than being constrained by the bounds of their class period, students can use laptops, tablets, or smartphones to access e-textbooks, online tutorials, podcasts, and the like, and learn from home whenever they see fit. As the workplace becomes more and more reliant on technology, students need to be introduced to using technological tools in a responsible and sensible manner. Incorporating technology into the classroom affords students the chance to do so.
