Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lake Zurich District Curriculum
Humanities classes focus on reading complex texts, mostly nonfiction, though some fiction, poetry, and short stories are still read. Students also write analytic essays, primarily, though some creative writing is allowed. The curriculum is intended to develop students’ information gathering ability as well as their analytic writing ability. Mathematics classes focus on a depth of instruction beginning with basic concepts like numeric operations, students master the fundamentals before moving on.
Students are also given opportunities to apply their learned math skills to real-world problems and in other subjects. The science standards follow the Next Generation Science Standards, which are rigorous, internationally benchmarked standards intended to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers. Like mathematics classes, science classes begin with key concepts which help students understand the world around them before moving on to more advanced concepts and real-world situations.

SchoolTutoring Academy Increased My SAT Score By 200 Points
My son’s math marks in high school have always been weak so I found it very beneficial that his ACT tutor worked on solidifying his fundamentals while prepping for the ACT.
SchoolTutoring Academy gave my daughter the confidence she needed to boost her SAT score Thank you!
SchoolTutoring has played an important role in improving our son’s confidence and attitude towards school. His grades have also improved steadily throughout the school year.
My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: Thank-You Notes
Nothing makes a teacher feel more unappreciated than never receiving a Thank-You note from a student for whom s/he wrote a recommendation. It’s just good manners. But even more important for a student, Thank-You notes can be very useful. After meeting with an admissions representative, for example, a simple Thank-You note can really cement the burgeoning opinion the representative has of the student. Thank-You notes shouldn’t be overly elaborate; even an email composed of just a couple sentences can do the trick, though for recommenders, it should really be a hand-written note. In fact, a Thank-You note to a college representative shouldn’t be overly long because they are already overburdened with work and don’t have a lot of time to read a long letter. A Thank-You note makes a student appear conscientious, attentive, polite, mature, and self-possessed. A simple note can accomplish so much!
