Chalk Talk: Things to Think About When Choosing A College
You’re a junior or senior in high school, and the question everyone seems to ask you is, “where are you going to go to college?” How do you answer? For a few, their path is set, their plan made; but for many students the plan is not so clear cut. When looking for colleges there are a few things to consider. What do you want to study? Narrowing down your colleges can be as easy as requiring that they offer three specific majors that you plan to choose between in the following years. Or you may desire specific course offerings or concentrations. What is your price range and/or what college will be able to help you get through your program in the time frame you need for the amount of money, grants, loans, and scholarships that you are going to be able to get. Many students pull out huge loans to go to their dream school and then find themselves in years of debt that is a burden to pay off. Sometimes going to a state or local school, even if it is not your “dream,” will end up being a better choice.
