Las Vegas District and Curriculum

Clark County Schools follow Nevada Content Standards as well as Common Core State Standards for ELA, math, Science, and Social Studies. These standards represent a 21st century course of study and are intended to prepare students for one of four paths after graduation. These four paths include four-year college, two-year college, trade or technical schools, or entering the workforce.

We currently cover the following Las Vegas-area school district: Clark County School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Las Vegas District Curriculum

Elementary education in Clark County schools encompasses all four major subjects and builds fundamental skills in English and Math. Foundational skills include phonics and reading strategies, as well as learning to write a variety of different texts. Math instruction in elementary grades begins with basic number recognition and develops through numerical operations, measurement, and geometry. The Science curriculum includes the nature of scientific inquiry, physical science, earth and space science, and life science.

The district supports multiple curriculum projects throughout the school year to help integrate the learning experience across subject areas. Recent projects have included field trips related to music and the arts, including a partnership with The Kennedy Center that provides opportunities for students to attend performances and for teachers to receive professional development.
