Lebanon District and Curriculum

The Lebanon Community School Corporation uses Common Core Standards for Math and Language Arts and statewide standards for other core subjects. The academic curriculum emphasizes key learning objectives that cover skills, content knowledge and conceptual awareness that help to bring about critical thinking on all subjects. Beyond core academics, there are also community service opportunities and awareness campaigns that students may work on to develop other skills such as time management and project planning.

We currently cover the following Lebanon-area school district: Lebanon Community School Corporation.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lebanon District Curriculum

In the Language Arts curriculum, Indiana state standards require students to develop comprehension of texts of increasing complexity. These works may belong to a variety of genres, time periods, and cultures. Students also develop research skills and practice incorporating different styles of writing into their work. Collaboration with other students and presentation of original ideas is encouraged as well.

The Science curriculum uses previously learned skills to help students progress as they advance in grade level. Students are taught to observe and describe physical properties and patterns of animals, nature, and other objects in grades K-8. Finding solutions to problems is emphasized in the teaching of the design process, which is used throughout all science classes. In high school, science classes delve more deeply into one subject at a time. Biology, chemistry, earth and space science, human anatomy and physiology, and physics courses are all available.

Chalk Talk: The Best Places To Study

It’s important to have one or several places you can concentrate when studying. Everyone has a different tolerance for noise or other distractions, so study areas will differ for each person. The first place to consider is the library. There is a reason it is one of the most popular places to study; it’s quiet and has a lot resources at hand. There are also many different seating arrangements. Studying in your house can also be quite effective. Your bedroom may seem to be the most obvious place to accomplish this task but many people find that they becomes easily distracted when they attempt to study here. If this is the case for you, any room in your home will suffice. If you have a patio or yard, fresh air and sunshine can be conducive to studying as well. Speaking of fresh air and sunshine, why not head over to a park if the weather’s right? If you’ve been cooped up in a classroom all day, this may be the perfect spot for your studying needs.
