Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Leeds and the Thousand Islands District Curriculum
In Math, student learning is centered on developing basic operational and procedural skills which prepare students for increasingly complex topics in secondary school. There is also a focus on mathematic literacy and the development of reasoning and communication of mathematic information. The Principles or Foundations of Math course offered to students in grade 9 lays a foundation for working with advanced topics in algebra, geometry, statistics, and trigonometry.
The schools also offer students many elective and extracurricular learning opportunities. The projects which they are able to collaborate with other students on help them develop critical project management, planning, and time management skills. As students find courses they want to pursue further, opportunities for independent study under the guidance of a faculty adviser are available.

Leeds and the Thousand Islands District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
In Leeds and the Thousand Islands the schools follow the Ontario Curriculum which is both standards-based and student-centered in its scope. It spans the elementary and secondary years with comprehensive frameworks for learning within all subjects offered. Each subject-specific framework contains grade-level expectations for learning which instruction and assessment are closely aligned to. Student learning in English involves a range of literacy and communication skills that open the world to students through literature and teach students ways to express their ideas and views. Reading for meaning and analysis are goals of the English curriculum and students are provided with different genres and subject matter for their reading.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!

Chalk Talk: What Do Students Learn in Business Classes?
In business classes, students study topics such as laws dealing with employment. Students describe the components of an employment contract and identify legal rights of employees, such as child labor laws and the right to work in a non-hostile environment. Void and voidable agreements are studied as well, with students identifying illegal types of agreements. Various crimes relating to business are explored, including theft, bribery, fraud, and embezzlement. An analysis of tort law is undertaken as well. Students identify the four elements of a tort, including causation, breach of duty, injury, and duty to do or not do something. Learners also devise an appreciation for the difference between liability and negligence as it pertains to the business world.
