Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Levittown District Curriculum
Bristol Township School District teaches each of their classes in such as way as to prepare students for exams and life experiences that may come up. Bristol uses the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments to test their 3rd through 8th graders in order to evaluate learning. For the High School students, Bristol has switched to Keystone tests to check understanding and achievement in the three subjects of literature, Algebra 1, and Biology.
Along with their rigorous classes focusing on Core topics as well as the other academic subjects, the Bristol Township School District offers programs to support gifted as well as challenged students to achieve all that they can throughout their time in the district’s educational programs. Bristol is now implementing a program to help students start reading from a young age through the Keystone Literacy Initiative. This program provides funding for special help in the home for children from infancy through 2nd grade. The hope is that this will enable them to succeed as their education continues.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: The Importance of ESL Programs
ESL, or English as a Second Language, has little by little become an important component in many school districts. It can be easy to take for granted the number of students who have not learned English as their first language yet who are enrolled in public schools across the nation. While many of these students are extremely gifted, in order for them to go far, they must have classes to help them reach a level of proficiency in the English language so that they have the opportunity to succeed or reach a higher level of understanding in their other classes. Not only is basic English language instruction important for these students, but also cultural instruction must be given. We think of world language courses as the normal place where culture is taught forgetting the importance of offering an intensive world languages course in English for our students at home who need it the most.
