Little Elm District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Little Elm Schools have created a curriculum that includes family, community, faculty and students, while also encompassing the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Each core subject is covered by a framework of learning objectives which students should meet each year. These objectives are aligned to the statewide assessments given in core subjects. As the curriculum is progressive, student knowledge is built each year and deepened to enable students the ability to do more complex work.
We currently cover the following Little Elm-area school districts: Little Elm Independent School District and Frisco Independent School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Little Elm District Curriculum
The writing curriculum at Little Elm Schools begins by introducing students methods of writing down ideas. By the time they enter middle school they know how authors use different views and place their own point of view in their creations. The students then learn how to make their work their own. When they are in high school, they learn how writing can be used in everyday life. They learn how to fill out applications, for jobs or for college, plus they learn how to write a paragraph like what is expected on the SAT's.
The science program includes various topics, such as weather, rocks, plants, ecology and living things. Each year the students build on previous knowledge they have acquired until by high school they are prepared to take on each subject at a more intense level. They can study matter in chemistry, or living systems in biology or botany. They learn how to work in a lab and how to design their own experiments and test their own hypotheses, then communicate their findings.

Chalk Talk: Math Classes for College Success
As teens enter high school, they begin to think about the classes that will help them in college. Each college-bound student needs to take the basics of algebra, geometry and algebra II. If the teen is looking to be admitted to a top college, it is advised they take math classes through their senior year, including calculus for students planning on majoring in engineering. Students with the opportunity to take trigonometry and/or statistics should take these courses as well. Students that are looking to apply to selective colleges also should try to take classes in pre-calculus and AP calculus. This gives a general guideline for students to help put their minds at rest.
