Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Livermore District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum develops understanding in reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. The emphasis on these areas develops critical thinking and analytic skills in students. In Math, students are taught numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. Within the subject, students have an experience that builds upon their problem-solving and logical and quantitative reasoning skills.

Other academic subjects and programs provide curriculum that similarly describe the major learning areas of the subject and the skills involved. When students advance in their learning and choose to enter a specialized program like a Technology or Environmentally-focused program curriculum are used that provide a similar framework and introduce other subjects into the teaching of the content.
