In Language Arts, students are instructed in the major areas of reading literary and non-fiction texts, the writing process, and other communication skills. In Math, students learn about numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry, and data analysis. These topics are also tied to higher-order thinking skills like interpretation, analysis, reasoning and problem-solving.
As students progress and as schools introduce other learning models, curriculum are provided that describe the expected outcomes for the students. Teachers are able to align instruction and assessment to the curriculum and ensure that they are bringing about proficiency in the subject matter for the students.

- Language Learning - The school district is partnering with Rosetta Stone to offer language-learning software on tablet computers for students to use. Beyond classroom use, there are any number of academic advantages to picking up a second or third language, and it helps to distinguish students on their college applications.
- Club Awards - Lodi High School's Future Farmers of America Club has a long-standing tradition in the school. In these days of a resurgence in farming and organic foods, this club remains an important part of the community. Recently, the FFA Club received an award for Innovation for the work that they have been doing over the years.
- Choices - Lodi Middle School is offering an online interactive tool to help students think about what they might be interested in for future career pursuits. The program is called Choices Explorer and offers students a number of interesting points to consider about preparing for their future.
