Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Los Altos Hills District Curriculum

In Language Arts, the curriculum details strategies in reading a variety of text styles, writing for multiples purposes, using a writing process, and other communication modalities. In Math, student develop problem-solving techniques in the areas of numeracy, algebra, geometry and data analysis each year. In the Sciences, students learn about the facts and principles specific to the topics of earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology.

Each academic subject helps students develop important critical thinking skills. In Language Arts, students develop analytic and interpretative thinking. In Math, students learn methods of problem-solving and reasoning, and in the Sciences, students develop a host of process-oriented skills.
