The grand opening of museum was on November 6th 1913, however the construction for this building was started in December of 1910. At first the museum was comprised of 4 different galleries contributed by 4 local organizations but as time went by and their collections grew, the museum soon outgrew the building that originally held the 4 galleries and and building was expanded. Now the museum holds hundred of artifacts and collections with over thousands of visitors everyday. Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust

The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust as it is the oldest Holocaust museum founded in the United States. In addition to this, the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust is also the oldest survivor founded museum for the Holocaust. It was founded by a group of Holocaust survivors in 1961 who were all attending English classes as a second language. They found that each of them had a small trinket/ primary source object from the Holocaust era.
