Lyndon District and Curriculum
The Jefferson County School District, a large school district in Kentucky which provides for over 101,000 students, contains a total of 172 schools within the district. The district trains its teachers in accordance with the Kentucky Core Academic Standards laid out by the Kentucky Department of Education, which emphasizes communication between teachers K-12 to ensure the consistency of material between grades. The District also follows the Common Core Standards Initiative for their English language arts and math programs.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Lyndon District Curriculum
The Jefferson County School District follows the standards and curriculum of the Kentucky Core Academic Standards and emphasizes the importance of its student body being prepared for college before they graduate from high school. At the K-5th grade level, the District nurtures behavioral growth and development activities through programs like the World Language in Elementary School Program, which requires a minimum of 90 minutes instruction per week in order for children to progress.
In middle school, students lay their foundation of math skills at the 6th-grade level by learning number senses, order of operations, and fractions, moving onto 7th grade curriculum which deals with ratios and tables, and ending in 8th grade with a strong background now obtained for entrance into high school, where students continue their studies of algebra, geometry, and other courses appropriate for their grade level.

- Jefferson County Public Schools Publishes School Supplies List - The school district released a list of school supplies for students and parents for the upcoming academic year. The district acknowledges the list is appropriate only for K-8th grade levels.
- Alex Kennedy Metro Middle School to be Converted to New Elementary School - Recognizing overcrowding as a significant issue in Louisville, the Jefferson County Board of Education voted to convert the current elementary school facility to a middle school in hopes of decreasing the district’s amount of overcrowding.
