The district’s curriculum has been devised such that there is a strong focus on technology and future learning. As a result, educational experiences revolve around rigorous learning that is relevant to life and work in the 21st century.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Mack District Curriculum

After acquiring foundational mathematical skills in elementary school, Mack’s mathematics students go on to more advanced studies in middle school. There, students work with the number system, learning how find common factors, work with multiples, and how to compute multi-digits numbers. Functions are introduced as well, with students using functions to model relationships between quantities. Learners also develop the ability to compare and evaluate functions. An introduction to geometry and dimensions is also provided as part of the middle school math curriculum.

Students participate in a comprehensive study of physical education. As part of the curriculum, students develop the skills that promote physical health, fitness, and wellness. Various motor skills are learned, including fine motor movements required for manipulating objects such as balls and other toys. Gross motor skills are acquired as well. This includes sequences of movements necessary to participate in individual and group sports.

Chalk Talk: Tips for Improved Performance on the SAT Subject Tests

With the weight that the SAT carries for college admissions and financial aid, it is important that your child be fully prepared to take the exam. With so much at stake, however, it can be difficult for your child to focus on the strategies that will most help them achieve a score of which they are capable. To improve their chances, your child should take the SAT subject tests when the content is fresh in their minds. If it is foreign language, the SAT should be taken after the conclusion of the highest course available at their school. For the sciences or social studies, the subject test should be taken at the conclusion of each individual course. When taking the tests, it’s important for your child not to get bogged down in a difficult question. Instead, they should skip more difficult questions in favor of answering the ones that they know. If time remains, they can revisit the more difficult questions.
