Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Manchester District Curriculum

West Delaware County Community School District’s curriculum framework describes processes and procedures for the implementation of the curriculum in various areas, including identifying the best instructional strategies and materials to deliver instruction to the students, distinguishing the current method of delivering instruction from the desired method, organizing staff into professional learning communities for collaboration, providing ongoing professional development on instructional strategies, and regularly evaluating the implementation of the curriculum.

Curriculum development involves studying and identifying the latest evidence-based best practices in education, distinguishing the current program from the desired curriculum, incorporating the nation and statewide academic standards, identifying what students need to know in each content area (standards, proficiency benchmarks, and essential understandings), creating a curriculum that builds upon prior learning, and communicating information about the curriculum to all stakeholders.

Chalk Talk: Resume Tips: Skills and Abilities

The last section of the resume typically includes a list of a candidate’s skills and abilities. These skills should be focused on the sector and on abilities that are important in the profession you are applying to. They should not be too specific. A candidate may mention their ability to manage a large group as an example of an management-related skill. Skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Office, the ability to collaborate with others, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally are all skills that are useful in professional settings in general. It is not wise to lie or over-exaggerate one’s skills; if the candidate makes it to the point of applying for specific jobs, the candidate should have talents and interest in the necessary areas. Candidates should list about five to ten skills in a list format with bullet points.
