Chalk Talk: Applying To Colleges

Unless you're a junior or senior in High School, you probably haven't given much thought yet to where you want to go to college. It's a very important step in your academic career - perhaps the biggest. You should apply to many colleges. It's not wise to bank all your college dreams on one individual university because you might not be accepted. Some other factors to take into consideration are tuition costs (in-state is substantially cheaper than out-of-state), student loans, and your area of interest and the facilities that university offers in that field of study. As tempting as it may sound to join all your High School buddies at one college, it may not be the best choice academically or financially. And besides, you'll make plenty of new friends at college; indeed, some of the closest friendships you'll ever make will be while you're attending college.
