Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Maple Shade Township District Curriculum
To ensure that students are capable of meeting and exceeding state and national performance standards, the district has developed curricula that are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Benchmarks for student learning in math and language arts are outlined in the Common Core State Standards, which have been adopted by states across the nation and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards have been implemented govern what students should learn and know in the other subjects.
Helping student’s lead healthy lives is a major part of the health and physical education curriculum in the Maple Shade School District. The health curriculum for elementary students focuses on the development of healthy living skills. Students learn when to wash their hands and how to appropriately and effectively wash them to prevent the spread of germs. The middle school health curriculum shifts the focus to puberty and the physical, social and emotional changes that take place during that time.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: Be a Better Writer: Avoid These Phrases
Whether you’re composing an answer to a test question or writing an essay for college admission, there are a few phrases that you should never use. First, avoid the phrase, “since the beginning of time.” In addition to being incredibly vague, this is a claim that is extremely difficult to prove. Unless you’ve lived through all of human history, don’t use it. Second, never begin a writing assignment by saying, “my paper is going to be about…” It is redundant and completely uninformative. Just write what about it – there’s no need to inform the reader that you will be writing about it later on in the paper. Lastly, don’t include the phrase, “in my opinion” in your writings. Not only is it a timid way of presenting your opinion, it also states the obvious. Essays are vehicles by which you present your opinions and point-of-view, so there’s no need to preface that fact with a useless phrase.
