Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Margate District Curriculum

Much of science class is spent learning how to investigate scientific concepts through observation, experimentation, and data interpretation. Throughout their education, students revisit the same topics year after year, giving them a chance to solidify and add to their knowledge. Topics that are covered in K-12 science classrooms include geology, astronomy, physical science, physics, and biology.

Broward County Schools use the best methods and materials to teach students math skills so that they will be able to compete in a global, digital society. The most basic skills are learned in elementary school such as how to count, make sequences, use fractions, measure, and perform simple operations. In middle school, students learn about ratios, proportions, decimals, number systems, data, expressions, equations, functions, statistics, and probability. High school students tackle more advanced concepts in algebra and geometry.
