Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Menomonee Falls District Curriculum

Menomonee Falls School District believes in pursuing excellence one student at a time. The school strives to provide the best personalized and comprehensive education so students will be prepared for, and positively contribute to a brighter future. The school tries to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills to succeed in a changing world. They also believe that every student should have the tools to learn.

The school also believes that instruction must be rigorous and connected to the real world. Assessment drives instruction and affects learning; in this way the school can gauge how effective its teaching is. When students demonstrate the need for additional help in a specific subject or within a set of skills within a subject, the assessments help show how to target instruction effectively for that student. There are also opportunities for enrichment and advanced work at all the schools in the district.

Chalk Talk: Applying to College Using the Regular Decision Process

Even though there has been a proliferation of college application types in recent years, the most popular is still Regular Decision. The due date for Regular decision used to be December 1st, and this is still often the case, but many colleges have pushed it back because of other application types with their broad range of due dates. So now, Regular Decision can be due as late as February or even, occasionally, March. There are no restrictions to Regular Decision, which is a positive for many students, but it also means there are no special advantages that go along with it. In fact, because the due date is so late, decisions are often very late. This is because colleges tend not to decide on applications until after the due date has passed.
