Menomonie District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The School District of the Menomonie Area (SDMA) provides residents with educational programming for 4K through grade 12. The 4-year-old kindergarten program is located in nine different childcare and preschool facilities throughout the district. Traditional K-12 students may attend any one of the five elementary schools (K-5), one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12). The district also offers non-traditional methods of education, such as summer school, an alternative high school, and an environmental site where students can visit and learn about the natural world.
We currently cover the following Menomonie-area school district: School District of the Menomonie Area.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Menomonie District Curriculum
The 4K program follows the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS), which serves students both cognitively and socially. Students enrolled in the 4K program will take part in a curriculum focused on cooperation, construct learning, diversity, and problem solving. Elementary students must also meet social and emotional milestones through CARES (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control). Students K-8 have multiple opportunities to attend the Bjornson Education-Recreation Center on field trips. The center allows students to learn about the environment and nature in Menomonie.
The WDPI Agenda 2017, Every Child a Graduate initiative focuses on achieving a 92% graduation rate by 2017. The state expects each district to create a curriculum designed to improve college and career readiness by offering a variety of rigorous and vocational courses. Menomonie High School follows the states mandates by offering core academics and many electives.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Financial Planning for Post-Secondary Education
While college tuition and fees have become increasingly unaffordable, several students are left with little work opportunity and overwhelming debt. Many high school students may wonder if college is even a wise investment, given the current economic climate and cost of a degree. Before attending a university or college, it is important to research the desired field of study—what does the job market look like in that field? It is necessary to choose a discipline with multiple options for employment. Also, students should be wary of new fields; while they could be promising for the future, few jobs may be available. Of course, apprenticeships, community colleges, and vocational trade programs are typically sound choices. Students can gain experience and knowledge in demanding fields with relatively minimal cost. The best route is consult early with guidance counselors on financial aid requirements and scholarship opportunities, and plan for the cost of college.
