Mexia District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The Mexia Independent School District follows the expectations established in the Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge and uses other curricula approved by the state such as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and a set of College and Career Readiness Standards. The design of the curriculum implements more complex content with new concepts that will enable students to develop skills like problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. These learning of these skills will prepare students to be successful in real-world situations, both in college and chosen career fields.
We currently cover the following Mexia-area school district: Mexia Independent School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Mexia District Curriculum
The English curriculum at Mexia Independent School District teaches students how to critically read, write and communicate and shows them the range of texts that they'll be expected to understand. In their writing, students are required to demonstrate analysis and the ability to support their ideas. They develop theses and gather evidence to support them, using appropriate resources and learning the process of citing their sources. Presentation skills are also a part of the curriculum and students are shown how to develop a piece of work through to its final presentation.
The Math curriculum begins by introducing the basic characteristics of numeracy and operations, and simple shapes like triangles, squares and circles. They learn how to reason about proportions presented to them and as they solidify these skills move on to more complex tasks. Students solve word problems involving measurement, quantity, and elapsed time. The students discover how to find the perimeter and area of shapes and study angles. They then have the background to advance in more complex topics such as algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

Choosing a Tutor If your child is having trouble in school and you are thinking of hiring a tutor there are several options. First, you should ask your child’s teacher about any tutoring that is available. Some schools are now offering the 21st Century, an after school program where kids can go for extra help in subjects that are proving difficult for them, however the academics are mingled with social activities and children may not get enough time. You can also search on the Internet for individuals in your area who provide private tutoring. You could advertise online or in the local paper. You can also look online for companies that provide professional tutoring for students. Before you actually hire a tutor, be sure to conduct a thorough search to ensure that the tutoring is reliable and experienced.
