The Middle Township Public Schools deliver rigorous and relevant curricula that help students develop the requisite knowledge and skills they need to be excellent students, dedicated workers and positive influences in their community. Students engage in learning experiences that are research-based and rooted in the recommendations of the Common Core State Standards and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.

Students in the Middle Township Public Schools acquire the skills and knowledge they will need in order to be successful in life and work in the 21st Century. By the end of the 4th grade, students learn what it means to be a productive worker, identify the qualifications required for various types of careers and begin to explore careers that interest them. In middle school, students are exposed to various types of blue and white-collar careers. Students identify the skills these careers require and determine what classes they would need to take in order to be prepared for their career of choice.

Chalk Talk: The Benefits of Physical Education

In recent years, many schools have reduced the amount of time elementary-aged students are required to be in physical education classes. This is due in part to budget shortages in some districts, but by and large it is in reaction to the increased emphasis on improving achievement in core areas such as math and language arts. Improved cardiovascular functioning derived from improved physical fitness increases blood and oxygen circulation to all parts of the body, including the brain. This, in turn, improves the delivery of nutrients to the brain, which helps improve attention span and concentration in all classes. In short, better physical fitness leads to higher academic achievement.
