Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Middletown District Curriculum

The CCSS provide standards that all schools can use for English Language Arts (ELA), including literacy benchmarks for material covering the areas of history, science, social studies, and technical subjects. The CCSS for mathematics provides universal standards that may be applied in all schools to accomplish a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts that are considered necessary for life. The language of the CCSS describes these skills as fluencies, allocated to each grade level as deemed appropriate.

For its technology classes and cross-curricular components, the schools uses the ISTE National Education Technology Standards and Performance Indicators for Students. The standards include creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts.
