Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Midfield District Curriculum
Central to the curriculum, are the literacy, mathematic and scientific abilities that students develop. Each subject is approached so that major areas are focused on and skills are developed at each grade level. The standards guide teachers by making clear that in English students will learn reading comprehension and vocabulary acquisition strategies, or take steps in the development of a writing process. The progression of skills enables students to handle more complex work in high school.
Midfield schools have required assessments for the content standards. This beginning, middle, and end of year testing gives the teachers the opportunity to communicate with parents and show them the growth the students are making. These assessments in Reading and Math gauge whether the student is on appropriate learning paths, what the students need to improve in (which allows the teachers to differentiate and remediate instruction), and shows where the student’s excel.

Keeping Informed: Recent Midfield Educational News
- Superintendent News - The School Board of Midfield has approved the hiring of a new superintendent, Ms. D. Sanders. She has held the role of Interim Superintendent for much of the past school year, and she was the district’s Special Education Director prior to that position. Midfield City School District is proud to have her as the new Superintendent!
- Nationally Certified Teachers - Becoming Nationally Certified is not an easy feat. Two teachers recently became Nationally Board Certified from Midfield City Schools: S. Fountain and L. Rogers. In order to receive this achievement, teachers must apply, and develop portfolios, take assessments, and be evaluated by other professional educators. This certificate is held in addition to the regular teaching certificate that is held, and any other degrees or accomplishments (such as a Master’s Degree) that the teacher may have.
- New Coaches - A new coach has been appointed to coach the Midfield girls’ basketball team. C. Thomas will have the role of coaching this championship team. The Midfield team has won four Class AAAA championships from the years 2007 to 2010. He certainly has big shoes to fill, and Midfield is confident he can do the job!

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
