Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Midland District Curriculum

The curriculum is designed so that students are building knowledge from elementary through high school focusing in on topics that are essential to each subject. This design is used so that students access their prior knowledge and reflective thinking which helps build other types of critical thinking skills. In Language Arts, many of these are put into play such as analysis, interpretation, evaluation and other critical reading skills. In Math, this is shown by the ability to recognize how problems need to be solved.

Midland Public Schools offers a full schedule of electives to allow students to balance their school days with core requirements and other learning opportunities. College and career standards are also used to ensure that students have the communication, collaboration, and technical skills for the 21st century workplace and the schools also offer students the chance to explore their interests through career and aptitude inventories.
